Welcome
I understand that talking to someone about your feelings and problems can be challenging. Many people fear that they will be judged, don’t truly understand how counseling works, and believe that counseling is just for “crazy” people–and they definitely do not want to be labeled as crazy! My first goal in therapy is to ease any worries you may have and make you feel comfortable with the process.
My personal counseling philosophy is summarized in the name “Anchored Hope.” Ultimately, I believe the name Anchored Hope reflects what I want to convey to clients and the community, and that is HOPE. The name Anchored Hope was inspired by the following scripture:
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters into that within the veil; Hebrews 6:19
This verse teaches that our hope for healing can be steadfast and anchors us. With this type of hope, we may not always see how the healing will come, but we know that it will come through our eyes of faith. To me, counseling is a way to direct people to hope so that they can experience joy and wholeness. We will work together to restore the hope of your future by understanding the patterns that are holding you back.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Anchored Hope Counseling. I consider it a sincere privilege and honor that you have taken the time to read our website. My Approach
To me, counseling is a powerful asset to help you navigate difficult situations and hardships in order to reach healing and growth; and the best part is you do not have to walk through it alone. I can help you to understand your situation, cope and move through it productively. Counseling provides a therapeutic relationship where you can explore issues, find ways to remove obstacles, and make healthy decisions that can lead towards personal growth and healing. It provides you with an opportunity to learn new ways of thinking and behaving that help restore balance in your life. The ultimate goal of counseling is to provide the platform to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
In our sessions, I want you to understand that I am also devoted to my own growth, and I do not have higher expectations for my clients than I have for myself. I know that the therapeutic process can be scary and hard to commit to. However, I also know the process is worth it. I have personally found that our greatest challenges can lead to our greatest change.
My mission for therapy is to help clients attain a steadfast hope in their lives: an anchored faith in themselves and their relationships, and a firm confidence to face the storms of life. Therapy does not make life itself better because life’s difficulties are inescapable. Instead, therapy is meant to provide you with the skills and confidence to know you can handle any arising life challenges, an anchor of hope in the storm. This hope can provide you with freedom from the worry, pain, and conflict that holds you back.

Training and Education
Prior to opening Anchored Hope Counseling, I worked as a counselor in many settings including schools, Hospice, and ministry. Combined, I have over 16 years of counseling and ministry work with children, adolescents, adults and couples. While I love working with clients struggling with anxiety, relationships, or their faith, I have expertise in helping people of all ages in many different areas; including of self-esteem, depression, stress management, academic/career coaching, behavioral issues, life transitions, grief and loss, and trauma.
I believe that counseling is not “one size fits all,” so I use an eclectic counseling approach and tailor each session to the client’s needs; often integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Techniques and play therapy with children. Furthermore, my Christian faith is an important element of how I view the world and I believe that spiritual insights are helpful upon client request for Christian counseling.
