Training and Education
Prior to graduation and licensure, I have worked in a variety of unlicensed counseling roles over the past 7 years. Specifically I have worked in the collegiate setting as a career counselor, disability counselor, veteran transition counselor, and triage emergency care coordinator. Over the past 2 years I have served as a School Counselor in the K-12 setting. While I specialize in children, adolescents, and young adults, I have also interned with two private practices during my collegiate internships serving couples, middle aged adults, and older adults.
In my varied roles, I have served clients with a wide variety of needs to include anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions, spiritual conflict, and career development. I believe that there is no one size fits all approach to counseling and therefore use techniques from a variety of theories to inform my practice. I specifically lean on tenets from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solutions Focused Therapy and Person Centered Therapy. I also use my christian orientation to inform and integrate into my work with clients who are looking for Christ-Centered therapy.
