My Approach
To me, no client is the same and therefore, each treatment is unique to the client. I want my clients to know that progress is never easy, but I ensure that the process is rewarding by walking alongside my clients. Through this process, I hope my clients walk away from each session as a better version of themselves. I hope that through counseling, my clients find the faith and hope they need to get through the struggles of life. No one is alone nor should have to face struggles without a support system. So let me be that support.

Training and Education
Prior to graduating and becoming a licensed counselor, I utilized my bachelors in athletic training while working to obtain my masters. During this time I was able to make a connection with athletes at all levels. This is where I found my true passion for sports. As a retired athlete and athletic trainer, I knew I wanted help athletes on a deeper level after becoming a counselor. Along with sports I have a passion that stemmed from my active role in the Church youth group. During my time at Catawba, I worked as an intern at Anchored Hope Counseling as well as with a substance abuse and behavioral health unit at Winston Salem State University. Since obtaining my license, I worked for a year in a K-12 school system as a mental health clinician and crisis intervention specialist.
I treat individuals (adolescents and adults) using a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach (CBT). I have a client focus on individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, family issues, and relationship issues. I also find a love for specializing in athletes post injury and other anxieties that might come with the sport. My approach to counseling would be best described as structured, client-centered focus. I believe that counseling can only be beneficial if there is effort put into it. This means that you get what you put into it. With hard work, energy, and faith you can turn your life around for the outcome you are trying to achieve. I look to connect emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to help make a change in your life and mental health. I show people that the past does not define you and you are in charge of the future. I also use my Christian faith to help inform and integrate treatment plans into my work with clients who are willing and asking for faith based counseling.
